The foundation of every successful development. Accurate terrain data that powers engineering design, municipal applications, and environmental impact assessments.
A topographical survey captures the three-dimensional shape and features of a piece of land. Using GNSS (GPS) receivers and total stations, our surveyors measure ground elevations at regular intervals and at all significant terrain features – producing contour lines, spot heights, and a full record of existing structures, services, vegetation, and drainage.
This data is the non-negotiable starting point for any land development, engineering design, or environmental study. An inaccurate topo survey cascades into wrong earthwork volumes, incorrect drainage slopes, foundation errors, and costly remediation. Our surveys eliminate this risk from the outset.
At 0.5m, 1m, or 2m intervals depending on project requirements and terrain complexity.
Watercourses, vleis, culverts, and drainage channels mapped with flow direction indicators.
Buildings, fences, walls, manholes, power poles, and visible infrastructure captured and classified.
AutoCAD DWG, Civil 3D-ready surface, PDF, and optionally GIS shapefiles.
CASE STUDY · MIDRAND, GAUTENG
A property developer required a topographic survey as the basis for a mixed-use development application to the City of Johannesburg. The site included a seasonal watercourse, a ridge, and several abandoned structures. The civil engineers needed a Civil 3D-ready terrain model with 0.5m contours.
Mathibe completed the 32ha survey in three days using Leica GNSS and total station. The full dataset was delivered in DWG and Civil 3D format within five business days. Municipal approval was obtained in under six weeks.
Result: Municipal approval in 6 weeks. No rework required. Civil design commenced immediately on receipt of data.
