3D Laser Scanning in Gauteng & South Africa

Capture millions of precise measurements in minutes. Perfect as-built documentation, clash detection, and heritage recording – at ±2mm accuracy.

3D laser scanning of a building

What is 3D Laser Scanning?

3D laser scanning (terrestrial LiDAR) uses pulsed laser light to measure millions of points on a surface in seconds, creating a dense, accurate three-dimensional point cloud. This digital replica of any structure or environment can be measured, analysed, and converted into CAD drawings, BIM models, or GIS data without revisiting the site.

For you, this means one site visit instead of many, no dimensional surprises during construction, and a permanent digital record of your asset – protecting you from future disputes and enabling faster, smarter design decisions.

Applications & Industries Served

As-Built Documentation

Accurate floor plans, elevations, and sections of existing buildings for renovation or extension projects.

Heritage Recording

Permanent digital archive of heritage structures before, during, and after conservation works.

Industrial Plant Surveys

Piping, structural, and equipment surveys for maintenance, modification, or decommissioning.

BIM Integration

Point cloud to Revit/ArchiCAD models (LOD 200–350) for Clash detection and design coordination.

CASE STUDY · PRETORIA, GAUTENG

Grade II Heritage Building Documentation

A conservation architect required a complete as-built record of a 1920s heritage property in Pretoria before major restoration work. Traditional tape measurement would have taken 3 weeks and missed complex roof geometry.

Mathibe Geomatics completed the full interior and exterior scan in two days using a Leica RTC360. The resulting 1.2 billion-point cloud was registered to ±2mm accuracy and delivered as E57, LAS, and a Revit-ready RCP file.

Scan time: 2 days Points: 1.2 billion Accuracy: ±2mm
